Top 10 Best Joker Stories
To go along with the recent Top 10 Lamest Batman Villains post, here’s top 10 list of the best Joker stories. The criteria in picking these was that it had to be a story that features the Joker, not just a great Batman story that the Joker appeared in briefly. If you’re a Joker fan, you owe it to yourself to read all of these.
“What? Not laughing yet? Just wait ’til I get to the punch line.
It’ll kill you! HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa”
~The Joker
10. The Clown at Midnight
by Grant Morrison & John Van Fleet (2007, batman #663)
Grant Morrison returned to Batman after eighteen years to write the seminal modern Joker story. If you like Heath Ledger’s Joker in the Dark Knight movie, then you will absolutely love this story!
Top 10 Lamest Batman Villains
Batman: The Dark Knight movie opens on Friday so we dedicate this list to The Dark Knight. Batman has some of the best villains of any superhero and some of the worst villains. The Joker made it to #2 on our list of best comic book villains, showing the popularity and ruthlessness of Batman’s arch nemesis. But hold the Batphone just one minute. Batman’s rogue gallery has its share of villains that he might not be to proud to mention when bragging to Superman. Here are the top 10 lamest and worst Batman villains of all time. So prepare yourself for the likes of Killer Moth and the “dangerous” Crazy Quilt.
10. Batzarro
1st Appearance: Superman #181 (April 2002)
Real Name: None
Superpowers: None
Abilities: Similar to Batman
Why He’s Lame: Like Bizarro (Superman’s evil doppleganger), Batzarro is a failed clone of Batman, with his symbol & utility belt upside-down. While a clone of a super-powered alien like Superman can work, a clone of Batman becomes groan-inducing lameness. At least he calls himself, “Batzarro, the world’s worst detective”.

Top 10 Marvel Comic Book Bloopers
Back in the day when comics weren’t the big business they are today you only had a few underpaid and overworked people pushing out a large number of comic books every month. And those overworked employees and freelancers did an incredible job of laying the groundwork for the high quality of comic books we have today. But, because of deadlines (they actually met) and not enough eyes to look at every comic, mistakes were going to be made and you have some wonderful bloopers. And while DC comics has their share, I’m more of a Marvel fan and have focused on their bloopers. Read the top ten Marvel comic book bloopers and have a laugh.

10. Hercules pulls Manhattan Island? Really? Really?
Marvel Team-up #28 - What’s the story?
Okay, I’m not a picker of nits and I realize comic books aren’t the place to find factual stories that are based on truth. I also know a man can fly, a man can breathe water, survive in space, shoot beams from his eyes and a hundred other powers are described in the comic books, but the idea of pulling Manhattan is so absurd it must start the list of comic book bloopers by Marvel. Do I even have to ask what the chain could possibly be connected to? The only “bigger” blatant disregard of physics is the defiance of gravity so many females are capable of with their bosoms. Top 10 Best Spider-Man Stories
There are really only three superheroes that have reached iconic status: Batman, Superman & Spider-man (with the hyphen). And while all three have universal appeal, Spider-man elicits sympathy and empathy more than any other superhero. Batman and Superman both have wonderful and rich origins that have shaped their lives, in the heroic sense as well as their moral values and belief system. So you certainly can feel for Bruce Wayne at the loss of his parents and you can sympathize with Clark Kent for being strange visitor abandoned on Earth by his parents, but to understand Peter Parker as Spider-man you have to enter a whole different world.
Peter became Spider-man out of three strong feelings: guilt, a sense of responsibility and love. He felt guilty for allowing a criminal to escape, who would kill his Uncle Ben only hours later. How does a teenager deal with that? You must also remember that Peter Parker was a kid in high school with no parents and only his elderly, albeit loving, Aunt May to care for him. This young kid was secluded and isolated from the world except for his Aunt and Uncle. Being Spider-man became his real life and he used his powers because he was given them for a reason…to help his fellow man. And when he feels he can’t go on and his will has faded he uses his love for others to give him renewed strength.
I share this so you can understand why these stories were chosen here as the top ten Spider-man stories. You can see where he came from and what drives him. “With great power comes great responsibility.” That is Spider-man’s mantra; it is what makes him put on that crazy suit everyday and risk his life for strangers. Every story selected grows from that one ideal and that is why he will never give up, he will never quit and even in the face of impossible odds Spider-man will always persevere. He is the ultimate superhero and here are the ten best Spider-man stories. I encourage you to find them and read them all. They may not change your life, but then again…they may.
10. The Reason is Karma
Issue: Marvel Team-Up #100
Creators: Chris Claremont, Frank Miller, and John Byrne
Three comic legends team-up to bring you the greatest Spider-Man team-up book of all-time. This isn’t your typical Spidey story, it’s a solemn tale, and an emotional journey into the life of Karma, and all the pain she’s had to endure. This book is classic Frank Miller, on par with his work on Daredevil. Truly one of Marvel’s hidden gems.

Top 10 Comic Book Villains
Comic book characters have taken off recently, especially with the popularity of the movies and animation on television. Even more so it appears the comic villains get a bigger spotlight than the heroes themselves. In a way this makes sense as the villains are often more interesting. Here is the top ten list of comic book villains. Criteria takes into account how important the villains were in the life of “their” hero, how powerful they were (raw power and brain power), and are they interesting. In the end it came down to this: Would I want to read a story with this comic book villain if there were no heroes in the story.

10. Kingpin
First Appearance: Amazing Spider-man #50, Marvel Comics
Wilson Fisk is a criminal mastermind who is involved in extensive illegal activities such as drug running, smuggling, murder, and extortion. Despite this, he has no criminal record and an army of lawyers to keep it that way. He is a criminal financial strategist without parallel. Fisk has no superhuman powers, but the majority of his 400-plus pound bulk is solid muscle. He has battled heroes such as Captain America, Moon Knight and Daredevil, but his most despised antagonist has been Spider-Man.
Most heinous crime: Ordered a hit on Spider-Man’s Aunt May.
