Why Judy Garland, Rosalind Russell, Marlene Dietrich, and Greta Garbo never won an Oscar is beyond me. It is inexcusable as far as I am concerned. There is a clip on youtube of Rosalind Russell as the “Mystery Guest” on the classic panel game show What’s My Line? It is absolutely hilarious!! For about half the game, Rosalind has the panel convinced that she is a man!! That is an absolute riot!! Finally Bennet Cerf figures out that the “Mystery Guest” is a lady. In any case it is an absolute shame that these four screen legends never won an Oscar. Shame on the Academy!!

Judy Garland should have won in a landslide for “A Star Is Born”–

Hollywood and the Oscar producers were so sure, that they had a live television feed in Judy’s hospital room (she had just given birth) so they could get her acceptance speech on live. They had to slink out of the room when Grace kelly’s name was announced. She was definitely robbed.

Marlene Dietrich was not a great actress, but still should have recieved a hounerary oscar for her lifetime performance. It is amazing how Greta Garbo never won, considering she was always a new york critics favourite, but then i doubt she would have had accepted it anyway.
I think Marilyn Monroe should have won for her roles in Bus stop, Some like it hot and The Misfits.
I dont think Carole Lombard recieved an oscar either which is a real shame.

Ditto on the choices on this list. The Oscar people have blundered so many times in their choices that sometimes I have to question the validity of the winners.

It is still not too late for Michelle and Julian to win. They just have to get good roles. I’m rooting or both of them.

Good list. I would add Lee Remick (Wait Until Dark, Days Of Wine And Roses)–This is why one of the greatest actors of all time, George C Scott, told the academy to “shove it” when he won the oscar.

How and why the legendary Barbra Stanwyck not winning an Oscar is a Hollywood Travesty in my opinion

I question Michelle Pfeiffer at number 5? I would replace her with Emily Watson for Breaking the Waves, Hilary and Jackie (losing out to Frances Mcdormand for Fargo, and Gwenyth Paltrow for Shakespeare in Love)

Jean Harlow and Marilyn Monroe are among the list.
Jean for Hold Your Man / Red Dust / Wife v. Secretary / Red-Headed Women
Marilyn for Bus Stop / Prince and the Show Girl / Some Like It Hot / Misfits

GLENN CLOSE WAS ROBBED!!! Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons is one of the greatest roles ever & no one could’ve done it better than Glenn Close. I love Jodie Foster but her performance in The Accused was not that great.

But Kim Bassinger won for her short appearance with barely any lines. She didn’t deserve it.
