    With all due respect, before posting this type of articles, spend more time researching and learning about it.

    5: The monetary cost of a vegetarian or vegan diet depends highly on the place and country you live in. If you are an american for example, sure, a plant base diet will probably cost you much more than a standard diet, because the production of animal products is tremendously subsidized. But you can still find easily places like markets where fresh vegetables and fruits are really affordable and have a diet much more cheaper than your previous one.
    4: If not done properly both diets (vegetarian/vegan and non vegetarian) are dangerous. Just visit a hospital or clinic and you will find tons of obese people (malnourished by the way), people with clogged arteries, people with type II diabetes, with nutrient deficiencies, etc. All of them eating standard non vegetarian diets. The difference is, with a non properly planified plant base diet you might get nutrient deficient (dangerous), but the chances of getting diabetes, heart disease, strokes, Alzheimer, obesity, etc, are still much more smaller.
    3: I agree. But the less environmentally destructive diet is by far a plant base/local/seasonal diet.
    2: Becoming vegetarian or vegan for ethical or environmental reasons is about reducing the damage you are causing. Sadly, nowadays nearly every production method has an environmental impact and kills wildlife, but maybe this situation will change in the future. Eating a standard non vegetarian diet kills much more wildlife (by deforestation, crops and farm animals protection), is responsible of almost all the deforestation in the Amazon Forest, pollutes rivers and the ocean, emits tons of carbon, methane and nitrous oxide to the atmosphere and kills 2.7 trillion (2.700.000.000.000) life beings every year.
    1. Not because one study points in one direction we have to forget the hundreds of other studies that point in the opposite one. Having a nutritionally adequate plant base diet is not hard at all, it just demands a bit of knowledge. Vegetables and fruits are by far the most nutritional dense products the nature has to offer, followed by whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. By eating 2000 kcal of plants you will get much more nutrients than 2000 kcal of any animal product. Vitamin B12 (a vitamin produced by bacteria, not animals) may be your only concern, unless you buy unwashed organic products and consume untreated natural water. Zinc, iron, calcium, selenium, protein are just problems for people with lack of knowledge. Non vegetarians are commonly not getting enough magnesium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, fibre, folic acid (B9), iodine, and antioxidants of any kind, and of course, consuming way to much protein, cholesterol, sodium, heme iron, dioxins, DDT´s, PCB’s, POP,s, furans, mercury, nitrosamines, methionine, heterocyclic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, TMA, saturated fat, carnitine, choline, casein, bovine polymaviruses, bovine estrogens and having a inadequate Omega 3 – Omega 6 ratio.

    So, some conclusions
    1. The article lacks of much of the contemporary relevant information
    2. Eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds as the main source of your calories is by far, without a doubt, the healthiest lifestyle and diet for a human being.
    3. If you choose to consume meat and animal products, have them in moderation.
    4. If you choose to consume meat, remember that meat is meat, not a magical-nutrient dense food. The vitamins and minerals it contains come from the food the animal ate, mostly oats, wheat, soy and grass, plus in many places vitamin B12 supplements.
    5. If you choose to consume meat and animal products, remember they have a much higher carbon and water footprint, they kill much more wildlife in their production, they contribute much more to global warming, climate change, ocean acidification, ocean dead zones, rainforest destruction, water pollution, habitat loss and species extinction.
    6. If you choose to consume meat and other animal products, (this is the part where you probably will stop reading) remember they come from living animals who where killed and probably tortured during the process.
    7. If you choose to consume meat and animal products, remember that biologically and physiologically you don’t need to. And that there is no moral justification for doing it if you have the chances, money and opportunities not to doing it. There’s no difference between animals and humans, which if present in humans, or you, or the people you love, would cause you to accept the treatment you propose for them.
