How very sad this list is. It is sad stories like this that make us feel like we should live our lives to the fullest everyday and not take it for granted that we will be alive tomorrow, or even the next second. Thank you for some bittersweet memories.

    Good call Gwen.

Didn't one of the child actors from Poltergeist die suddenly from a weird stomach problem?

I think it was the cute little girl who said: "They're baaaack".

    • Peter Boucher

Yes, The little girl who said “They’re baaaaack” was a young actress name Heather O’ Rourke. She also appeared as the daughter of Fonzie’s girlfriend on “Happy Days” towards the ending of that show. She died of a very rare and mysterious stomach disease. Another very weird coincidence from the movie “Poltergeist” was the murder of Dominque Dunne who was stalked and killed in her early twenties. She played the oldest sibling in that movie and was also the daughter of the famous writer Dominic Dunne.

Heather O’Rourke died at age 12 of a ruptured intestine. She had a bowel obstruction, something that is not rare or mysterious at all. Although she was misdiagnosed time and again, they finally discovered that she had a bowel obstruction due to a congenital stenosis. They weren’t able to diagnose it, however, until it was too late and the bacteria from her ruptured intestine had overwhelmed her system and caused her organs to fail.

I think you are right Mark that little girl did pass away and it was sad and sudden.

I just recently moved out of on-campus apartments named after Samantha Smith…

  • Eric Chapman

I would throw Bobby Driscoll on that list.

These stories really show how beautiful and horrble the world is. They were all too young. But, they will live on in us all.

    Interesting article, but poorly written.

    • Rion

That’s what I thought, a lot of commas were missing that would have made more of an impact, as well as a few other mistakes. Article information was great though.

  • Number 9 is a real tragedy.

The number 2 is much more complicated than what is written there. It was impossible for one single man to create that kind of weapon. The cells were manually covered with a coat of some kind so it would be easier to get into the lungs. Plus it was of highest weaponized quality. Where Ivins worked he did not have access to that stuff. He was blamed for that but the trace of that stuff did not end with him. A few month later a UN bioweapon specialist, who had connections to that case was murdered in England. Although all evidence pointed out that he was murdered Scotland Yard declared it a suicide. It even whent through the English parliament where they openly said that it was murder and still it was never investigated. When some reporters investigated further they found quite a list of “suicides” some are now known to be murders after they got their bodies dug up. The bioweapon industry is powerful and extremely dangerous. It was privatised after it was made illegal by the UN but today noone can really say how much money is in the buisness just that they have come far aénough to be a threat to mankind like nuklear warfare was during the cold war.

How about Anissa Jones who was the little girl Buffy on the 60’s television show “Family Affair” who died of a drug overdose when she was only 18. Even weirder was the father of that show Brian Keith, who committed suicide when finding out that he was terminally ill with cancer. The most frightening one of all in my opinion was the violent deaths of the 3 main characters in the movie “Rebel Without A Cause”. James Dean was killed in an auto accident, Sal Mineo was stabbed to death and Natalie Wood who drowned in 1982.
