Though Drosera capensis, sounds like it could have been ripped straight from the Game of Thrones universe, it’s actually a plant that exists within our own universe. However, what it does is so alien and terrifying this entry should technically leap out of the screen in an attempt to impregnate your face.
Normally referred to as Cape Sundew, this plant is one of the few carnivorous plants ever discovered on Earth. Whereas better known carnivorous plants like the Venus Flytrap eat their prey in an awesomely spectacular way, the Cape sundew is a little more relaxed, which just makes it more unnerving. Rather than quickly trapping its food or letting it fall to its death into a pool of digestive juices like other, more merciful plants do, the Cape sundew traps and then slowly wraps its spindly limb around its prey. In broad daylight.
Yes, just to be clear, somewhere out there, there is a plant that slowly strangles the life out of its prey and seemingly just to be a dick, it does so while said prey can see the rest of the world mocking its failure by uploading a picture of it struggling to YouTube. And that ladies and gentlemen is why we hate nature.
