Top 10 Movie Trailer Mash Ups

Who doesn’t love a good movie trailer? One of movie-goers’ most favorite cinema experiences is seeing what new films will be featured in the coming attractions. Of course, sometimes we watch one movie and think about how great it would be to combine it with another, but know it could never happen. That doesn’t mean we have to stop dreaming about movie crossovers, here are some truly great trailers for these movies we only wish actually existed:

    10. Talladega Cars

Okay, this mash-up was almost too obvious. How could you not take a movie about cars, particularly when the protagonist is a cocky race car, and dub in the audio from the one and only NASCAR movie anyone ever really wants to watch? Sorry, Days of Thunder, we’re not talking about you. We’re talking, of course, about Ricky Bobby, and the transition between the two films is just about perfect. And it should be, because of course a car named Lightning McQueen wants to go fast.

    9. Watchmen-E

Wall-E is a fantastic movie. Watchmen was, well, maybe a little disappointing. It still featured an absolutely superb trailer, thanks in large part to the musical choices and outstanding visuals. While the stories don’t particularly mesh all that well, this mash-up is done so well that we’re willing to look beyond that and just enjoy the wonderful collaboration of two substantially different films.

    8. Lloyd Christmas, 007

Lloyd Christmas is a man of mystery. What’s mainly mysterious is how he manages to not kill himself, or at least seriously injure himself, two or three times a day. But throughout the course of Dumb and Dumber, he’s mistaken for some sort of secret operative, which makes him the perfect subject for a James Bond mash-up. Of course, James Bond’s chances would be better than one in a million, but still.

    7. Stalked in Seattle

When you stop and think about it, this one isn’t particularly far off from what actually happens in Sleepless in Seattle. Think about it: a woman hires a private detective to follow a man she’s never met, flies across the country to stare at him from afar, and sets up a meeting that lures the man’s young son out on his own, where he’s ripe for the picking. Maybe Meg Ryan’s character was actually crazy, after all.

    6. You Got Wizard Served

Hey, remember when everyone liked movies where people challenged each other to dance? Yeah, we’ve tried to forget it, too. At least, until we saw this terrific mash-up that puts dance fighting into the only appropriate context: a wonderland of Munchkins, witches and flying monkeys. It also just confirms to us that the Wicked Witch of the West prefers to live her life straight hood.

    5. Goonies of the Caribbean

If you were a child of the 80’s, you loved The Goonies. Heck, even if you weren’t a child of the 80’s, you probably still love The Goonies. It was vicarious adventure at its best, because what kid couldn’t imagine himself as Mikey, or Mouth, or Data, or Chunk? Well, maybe not Chunk. The fact that someone had the good sense to combine the Curse of the Black Pearl with this all-time classic is something for which we should all be grateful.

    4. Up Torino

Some movies are just destined to become bound together, and Up and Gran Torino are two such movies. Up lends itself almost too perfectly to the storyline of Gran Torino, starring Clint Eastwood, in which a crotchety old man begrudgingly befriends an Asian kid. Add in the fact that all Carl from Up wanted was for people to get off his lawn, and this was a mash-up made in heaven.

    3. The Ring Team

The A-Team is goofy, but fun, and we would gladly hear its theme song played over pretty much any video you can throw at us. But when you add in a perfect transition to the assembling of the Fellowship of the Ring, well, we’re just going to watch that thing over and over and laugh our heads off every time. We’re not sure Boromir really deserved a spot on the team, but Legolas and Gimli were so perfectly cast in this parody we can’t complain.

    2. Reservoir Turtles

Hey, what are you going to do when you’ve got a crack team of experts in certain fields who are known by and differentiated largely by colors? You’re going to make either Reservoir Dogs or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or better yet, you’re going to combine the two. It also totally makes sense that Raphael would be irked about being Mr. Pink, because he’s cool but rude.

    1. Toy Grit

Finally, we come to one of the most well done movie trailer mash-ups out there, as the characters of Toy Story are pretty much seamlessly transformed into those of the remake of True Grit. Woody being turned into Rooster Cogburn was pretty much spot on, but taking Buzz Lightyear and turning him into LeBoeuf is absolutely inspired.

My favorite was “Scary Mary.” The audio wasn’t audio of a trailer, but they basically turned the trailer of Mary Poppins to look like a horror movie it’s awesome:

I know Toy Story was popular, but I was disappointed not to see Toy Story Requiem:

These were funny. I was trying to think of two films that I could mash up at Youtube, but I only came up with “No Sex in the City for the Country of Old Men”. And that would be kinda depressing, at least for the old men. If they were visiting the City for the first time.
